Teaching Assistant: Mrs Guy
Year 5 is a year of consolidation and preparation for year 6: therefore, we concentrate on building independence and developing confidence in a range of skills. This year we are working together with Y6 as an upper KS2 phase group, to maximise children’s learning experiences. Our philosophy is to have pupils, teachers and carers working together to enable all pupils to achieve their potential.
Our main emphasis for this term is on our topic WWII, which we will explore through primary sources, a visit to the Severn Valley Education Centre and the narratives Once by Morris Gleitzman and Friend or Foe by Michael Morpurgo.
Our Science focus is to investigate two key questions. During Autumn 1, we explore the question ‘Do all animals start life as an egg?’ and in Autumn 2: ‘How do animals grow and change?’.
Outdoor PE takes place every Monday, while indoor is on Fridays. Please ensure that suitable kit is in school on these days. We are very lucky that we will once more be enjoying ‘Rocket’ music sessions, using keyboards and melodicas, as the children work towards their next exam.
This is our current timetable for the autumn term:
